Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the sister relationship between the State of Delaware and Japan's Miyagi Prefecture, Cape Henlopen High School hosted 15 students and two teachers from Sendai Nika Senior High School.
Visiting students stayed with Cape High families and attended classes with their Cape High student hosts. Despite the cold weather, Cape families introduced their Japanese visitors to life at the beach, as well as American foods, traditions and recreational activities.
Students and their hosts and chaperones were welcomed to Delaware Legislative Hall by Gov. John Carney and Sen. Ernie Lopez, R-Lewes, March 15. Some visiting students also participated in the Cherry Blossom Beach Fest at the Cultured Pearl March 18.
