The Cape girls’ tennis team started off its 2022 campaign on the winning side with a 4-1 victory over Smyrna March 22 at home.
Picking up a win were singles players Noa Aboutboul and Mackenzie Vitolo and doubles duos of Juliana Warnock and Rachel Ramjattansingh and Madison Costello and Sia Patel. Aboutboul won the second singles match with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Paisley Cole. In third singles, Vitolo defeated Maria Sterling 6-0, 6-0. The Vikings’ first doubles of Warnock and Ramjattansingh downed Elayna Tush and Emma VanOrden 6-1,6-1, while the second doubles team of Costello and Patel defeated Marion Mongare and Jayden Hill 6-3, 6-1.
The Vikings welcome the Jays of Seaford Wednesday, March 30.
Dan has worked for the Cape Gazette for more than 30 years as a photographer and reporter, covering high school sports and happenings around eastern Sussex County. He won a photography award from the National Newspaper Association, and numerous awards from the Maryland, Delaware, D.C. Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016. He was inducted into Cape High’s Legends Stadium in 2016. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, grandchildren and dogs.
