Mikaela Gordon had a career-best four goals, while Claire Lopez and Haley Gamuciello each scored three times. Ally Diehl chipped in with two goals.
Scoring single goals for Cape were Hazel Mancari, Cora Conway, Mairead Rishko, Mackenzie Todd, Rena Best and Kemper Cox.
Assists makers were Best with three, Rishko with two, and Todd and Avary Miller with one apiece. Emily Wells in goal was credited with two saves.
Scoring for the Seahawks were Brooklyn Montgomery and Elizabeth Merrick, who also had an assist. Freshman Caroline Mitchell had five saves in goal.
The Vikings improved to 10-2 on the season with both losses to Maryland powers Broadneck and Marriotts Ridge. Cape next hosts winless Lake Forest Wednesday, May 6, before playing at 4-7 Polytech Friday, May 8, and finishing up with Senior Night Wednesday, May 13, against 6-5 Milford.
Sussex Academy drops to 6-6 on the season with games remaining against Smyrna, Newark Charter and Tatnall.
Unbeaten JV - Cape's JV team beat Sussex Academy 16-1 to remain unbeaten at 12-0-1 with one game remaining against Sussex Tech.
Goal production for the Vikings included Meredith Frederick with four, Sloan Pierce with three, and Delainey Smith, Blair Chubb, Mackenzie Kupa and Annabell Bonk each with two goals. Assist leaders were Smith with three, and Pierce, Chubb and Bonk each with one apiece. Dylan Peck was credited with three saves.
Avery Isaac scored for the Seahawks, while goalie Charlotte Cline had 10 saves.
Notes: Each team had a starting player sidelined with an ACL tear that required surgery – senior Madison Mark for Cape and freshman Mady Lehman for the Seahawks. The Seahawks have five seniors on the varsity roster, while Cape has seven.
There are 10 freshmen on the Cape JV team out of a 2025 eighth-grade class from three middle schools of 21. Sussex Academy has eighth freshmen on the JV team and one eighth-grader, while the varsity roster includes seven freshmen.
The top four teams without strength of schedule factored in are Tower Hill (13-0), Padua Academy (12-1), Cape Henlopen (10-2) and Caravel (9-3). The state tournament begins Monday, May 18.
