Cape boys’ lacrosse ran the clock and ran the roster on the visiting Sabres of Sts. Peter & Paul March 23 at Legends Stadium, surging to a 15-1 halftime lead, then coasting home for a 22-4 victory.

The weather was a balmy 65 degrees with no wind and no biting bugs.

Fifteen different players scored for the Vikings, led  by Jack Schell with four, while Luke Burton, Thomas Gibbs, Ryan Morgan and Brenner Short each scored two. Single goals were scored by Cody Trivits, Brexton Carter, Joe Coveleski, Jahden Cannon, Anderson Smith, CJ Fritchman, Evan  Burris, Mike Guenther, Price Lindsay and Hank Anderson.

Nine of Cape’s goals were assisted by Luke Burton, while Burke Healy and Hank Anderson each assisted with two. Joe Coveleski, Jack Schell and Brexton Carter each had one assist.

CJ Fritchman  won 12 face-offs.

The goaltending duties  were split between Mason Trench and Gus Musika.

Cape now goes on the road for three games in a row, playing Wednesday, March 29, at Polytech; Saturday, April 1, at Archmere; and Tuesday, April 4, against LaSalle College HS (Pa.), with the game played at Washington College.

Coach Geoff Shupard said, “My takeaway was that the guys shot the ball much better this game than the previous game. We must have taken 8-10 shots against Episcopal before hitting the goal at all. Our ride was also very effective against their clear, which the boys have been working very hard on.”
