Carl Robert Stamm, Marine Corps veteran

Carl Robert Stamm, 73, of Millsboro, formerly of Reading, Pa., passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2021, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes.  

Born April 13, 1947, in Reading, to the late Wilson Stamm and Agnes Schwab, Carl spent most of his adult life in Reading and was a 1965 graduate of Reading High School. Carl served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps during Vietnam. After his honorable discharge, Carl made a career in medical manufacturing and retired as a supervisor after 37 years of service.  

Carl relocated to Delaware two years ago, where he was able to take advantage of his love for boating and fishing. Additionally, he was actively involved in the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars posts.  

In addition to his parents, Carl is preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Sandra. Carl is survived by his children, Robert Silcox, Kimberly Pila and Karin Stamm, all of Reading, and Rebecca Caldwell of North Carolina; a brother, George Stamm and wife Gloria of Millsboro; and a sister Linda Hamm and husband Donald of Reading. Carl also leaves behind his grandchildren Joseph Pilat III, Jaden Johnson, Jacob Silcox and Bryanna Caldwell; and four great-grandchildren; along with his companion Maryanne Coates of Millsboro.  

A memorial service will be held Monday, March 1, at 1 p.m., at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro where Carl will receive full military honors. Private burial will take place in Pennsylvania at a later date.  Due to COVID-19, social distancing must be practiced and face masks must be worn at all times.
