Central Delaware Interfaith Alliance to meet Sept. 14

September 6, 2021

A new interfaith group is forming in Central Delaware. Comprising members of faith communities and based in Dover, the new Central Delaware Interfaith Alliance has representation from members of faith communities, congregations and houses of worship including the Christian faith, the Jewish community, the Muslim community, the Bahai' and the Society of Friends, known as Quakers, to name a few.

This alliance is replacing a group of faith communities that had previously been organized as the Kent Ecumenical Ministerium, which administered the Kent Ecumenical Food and Crisis Fund to help people in need in Central Delaware. The fund will continue under the auspices of the new group. A mission statement and by-laws are already in draft forms.

The alliance’s next gathering will be at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 14, at the Christ Episcopal Church parish house at 523 S. State St. in downtown Dover. This meeting will be available in person and virtually with advance registration required. The meeting will serve as the official kickoff of the new organization, and the latest drafts of the mission statement and the bylaws will be shared. To RSVP, contact Jon Rania, acting co-convenor of CDIA, at jrania@christchurchdover.org or 302-734-5731.
