Charles E. Lader, retired business owner
Charles E. Lader, 87, of Lewes, Sun City Hilton Head, S.C., and Forest Hill, Md., passed away in the loving care of his wife, Carol, and Beebe Healthcare Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021. He was born Aug. 12, 1933, to the late Adolph and Irene Lader in Dundalk, Md.
Charles was the consummate salesman who built his career on trust and understanding the requirements of his customers. He had a gift when meeting people. He listened well and always remembered things about his many friends and customers. His company, CELCO, Automation Engineers and Consultants, serviced companies throughout the eastern and central parts of the U.S. He was an Army veteran and served in Baumholder, Germany as an MP.
He loved reading, racquetball, woodworking, and golf, especially when he had his first hole-in-one Dec. 21, 2011. He also enjoyed traveling to Europe to visit his cousin in Darmstadt, Germany. But most of all, his passion was enjoying the waters of the Chesapeake Bay over the years on his many wooden Chris Crafts. His last vessel was a fiberglass Chris Craft named “Meant to Be.”
Charles and Carol retired to Bluffton, S.C., and enjoyed 12 years residing in Sun City Hilton Head before relocating to The Moorings at Lewes.
Charles is survived by his wife and best friend of 37 years, Carol (Blanar); his children: Brenda Weinreich (Butch), Judi Fisher (Mark) and Jennifer Hallameyer (John); his grandchildren: Jillian Wise (Tyler) and Leslie Weinreich, Nicole Hall (Steve), Hailey Fisher, and Lauren and Jack Hallameyer; and his great-grandchildren Greta and Anya Hall; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews - all of whom he loved very much.
Due to the coronavirus restrictions, memorial services will be planned at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mr. Lader's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256, and the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
