Groome Church will host musician Charlie Zahm playing and singing country music at 7 p.m., Friday, May 8, at 601 Savannah Road, Lewes.
“We are always pleased to have Mr. Zahm with us, but especially this time of the year to thank and celebrate moms during Mother’s Day weekend. This will be Charlie’s eighth time performing in Lewes before what is certain to be an enthusiastic, capacity audience; a free community event open to the public as space allows. Our congregation is committed to supporting the musical arts by presenting different types of music including country, a wonderful and uniquely American genre,” said Groome’s pastor, the Rev. Dr. S. Willard Crossan III.
Zahm said, “I love country music – songs of sunsets, cowgirls, cowboys and true grit. I grew up loving the romance of the American West, with songs about cattle drives and gold rushes. Country songs can take you to red rock mesas where there is nothing but God, stars and the sound of a guitar. There is nothing better than a song that tells a story, and country music is full of stories. I can't wait to return to beautiful Lewes and Groome Church, where I always feel so welcome.”
