Comic art to benefit Beebe at Jawsfest Aug. 20

August 12, 2020

A great white shark won't be the only thing making a splash at Revival House's Jawsfest. Local artists are diving into The Blue Line Challenge to help raise money for frontline workers at Beebe Healthcare.

The collaboration began with a conversation between Fred Giovannitti of Ink & Energy Tattooing and Justin "Ogre" Sinnott of Ogre’s Grove. Sinnott features seasonal art exhibits in his comic shop in Milton, but he hasn't been able to host a reception since the pandemic started. When he told Giovannitti that Ogre's Grove would be vending at Jawsfest, Giovannitti pointed out it would be a great opportunity to showcase artists who haven't been able to share work at their usual venues.

Giovannitti is an internationally known local artist and inventor with more than two decades of experience producing artwork in multiple mediums and developing innovations to help clean up marine ecosystems. Learn more about him at www.inkandenergy.com

Having collaborated with many different artists using varying styles in the past, Giovannitti looks forward to seeing what artists in this area will create using the material he's supplying – an 11-by-17-inch comic book art board that includes lines with non-photo blue ink to help with laying out a comic page. Whether participants decide to create panels or one large image, each piece will offer a unique way to remember Jawsfest.

The donated artwork will be displayed in a silent auction at the Ogre's Grove booth. The fundraiser starts at 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 20, at Hudson Fields. For information about how to participate, go to www.ogresgrove.com.
