Welcome to Medicare seminars set Feb. 24

Delaware Medicare Assistance Bureau and the Delaware Department of Insurance will host virtual Welcome to Medicare seminars at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 24. The bureau provides free, unbiased information and counseling to people covered by Medicare. DMAB and the Department of Insurance host free Welcome to Medicare events throughout the state. Many people who join Medicare have questions and concerns about their new, different type of health insurance. Also important deadlines exist for certain new Medicare Advantage plans and prescription drug coverage. For more information or to register, go to de.gov/dmabcalendar or call 302-674-7364. 

New grief support group to begin Feb. 25

The Cape Henlopen Senior Center will offer an eight-week group for adults focusing on loss, grief and bereavement that will meet virtually from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 25, continuing March 4, 11 and 18, and April 1, 8 and 15.  Co-facilitator Joseph Anastasio, LCSW, a psychotherapist in private practice with Delaware Psychological Services, has been facilitating grief support groups in Sussex County for the last four years and hosting groups on Zoom since COVID-19 began. Co-facilitator Sondra Rosenfeld is a volunteer with grief support training, and she has worked in this field for the last 20 years.

Women's Leadership Summit to go virtual Feb. 27

The Junior League of Wilmington will host Be the Movement, its 6th Annual Women's Leadership Summit, as a virtual event from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 27. This is a comprehensive leadership development opportunity for women. Attendees will connect with like-minded individuals in the community while enhancing their leadership skills to become better equipped to lead in their communities, their organizations and their lives. The virtual program will feature a series of speaking engagements, speed networking and workshops to provide attendees with the motivation to take bold steps forward in their professional development and personal growth.
