Dean Russell Greener, proud veteran

March 12, 2015

Dean Russell Greener, 51, of Comstock Park, Mich., formerly of Lewes, passed away suddenly of a heart attack Thursday, March 5, 2015, at his residence.  He was born May 29, 1963, in Milford, son of Lillian Louise (Covington) Greener who resides in Lewes, and the late Randolph LaRue Greener.

Dean had proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a petty officer 2nd class.  He loved to fish, hunt, play his guitar and trumpet, and enjoyed singing.  Dean never met a stranger, and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He was a loving father, grandfather, son and brother, whose happiest moments were those spent with family and friends. Volunteering was near and dear to Dean's heart, for several years volunteering his time at the Michigan Home for Veterans. His military family was also of great importance to him. He will be dearly missed by those he read to or had conversations with at the veterans home.

In addition to his mother, Dean is survived by his four children, Bryan Greener and wife Julia, Wayne Greener and wife Kristin, Bradley Greener and wife Joanna, and Lauren Greener; a sister Catherine Greener Riley and husband Joseph; three brothers, Randy Greener and wife Hilda, Lance Greener and wife Linette, and Shawn Greener and wife Colleen; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 16, at 11 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may visit one hour prior to services. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Home of the Brave Foundation, 6632 Sharps Road, Milford, DE 19963.
