Delores Norwood Handy, retired teacher

Delores Paige Norwood Handy, 87, of Harbeson, died Thursday, June 30, 2011, at Delaware Hospice in Milford, after a lengthy illness.

Delores was born Sept. 18, 1923, to the late Clarence P. & M. Loretta Maull Norwood, Belltown. Delores was a member of Israel UM Church and UM Women.

Delores taught at the former Wm. C. Jason High School and ended her teaching career at Woodbridge High School after 38 years of service. Delores was a member of Cornell University Alumni, Delaware State University Alumni, Sussex County Alumni Chapter, Pi-Lambda Theta Honor Society, Eastern Sussex Republican Club, DSEA-Life Member, and American Assoc. of Family Consumer Science.

Delores was predeceased by her sister, Agnes Norwood Scott. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, James Otis Handy; two sisters, Cora H. Norwood Selby of Laurel, and Hilda Norwood of Belltown.

Services will be noon, Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Israel United Methodist Church, Plantation Road, Lewes. Arrangements by Miller Funeral Services.
