Elsie ‘Kimberly’ Goodman, amazing person

Elsie “Kimberly” Goodman, 55, was born July 17, 1964, in Bishopville, Md.,  to the late Petric Handy and Daniel Goodman. She transitioned from labor to reward  Sunday, July 12, 2020, at her home surrounded by her family.

Kim was a dedicated employee at Ocean Club Villa for many years. She was a devoted member and usher at The House of Prayer in Selbyville under the leadership of Prophet Donald and Prophetess Alisa Johnson. Kim enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and always enjoyed a good laugh. When she was not at work, she was sure to be out getting ice cream or something to eat with her sister Allison, or seeking advice from her sister Alisa. They heard a million times a day, “I’m the baby,” and it sure enough got her what she wanted. Oh, how she loved eating crabs and no one could outeat her. She would eat dozens at a time nonstop.

Her kids and her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she was willing to do anything and everything to protect them. Kim was known to everyone as “Aunt Kim”; she touched everyone she came into contact with. She was truly an amazing person and treated everyone like family. Her love was genuine, no matter who you were.

Even when her faith was tested, she stood firm on the word of God. Her foundation was God and God alone. One of her favorite scriptures was: Psalm 23:4, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for you are with me; Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

She walked the walk of faith until it was her time to depart this earth.

In addition to her parents, Kim was preceded in death by her second mother, Yvonne Vilea Parker; stepmother Joyce Goodman; grandson Trey Goodman Jr.; two aunts, Felicia Johnson and Demetrice Sturgis; two brothers Kendall and Donald Ray; uncle Clarence Handy; and two sisters Connie and Valerie.

Kim leaves to celebrate her memory her three children, Deshawn Garrison, Trey Goodman, and Ronshonda (Kris) Goodman-Purnell; seven grandchildren: Kristan Jr., Kameron and Karter Purnell, Leah Morris, Kara Powell, Jordan Murrell and Miya Laws; six sisters, Alisa (Donald) Johnson, Allison Goodman, Abigail Handy, Violet Handy, Robbin (Doug) Thompson, and Wendy Garrison; five brothers: Anthony (Couoyna) Goodman, Steven (Carolyn) Goodman, Kevin Handy, Michael Handy, and Joe (Tanya) Garrison; three godchildren Destany Bowen, Toy Dixon and Carlissa Garrison; best friends Julia Bowen, Belinda Brittingham and Sherry Chandler; special cousins Charlene Majors and Ida Mae Mitchell; and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and loved ones.

Service will be were held July 19, at St. John 2nd Baptist Church Millsboro.

Service are entrusted to McPherson Funeral Services Inc., Camden.
