Elwood Lee Johnson Sr., tree company owner
Elwood Lee Johnson Sr., 61, of Lewes, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2011, at his late residence.
He was born in Wilmington, April 25, 1950, son of the late Elwood Johnson and Elsie C. Brink Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Elwood Lee Johnson Jr. in 2005; and a sister Jeanette Reginaldi.
He was the owner of AAT Tree Company. He had been very active in Alcoholics Anonymous and CDA and helped numerous individuals over the years with their struggles. He was an avid pinball enthusiast and loved to watch "Matlock."
He is survived by two stepsons: Charles Oliver and Louis Oliver; four stepdaughters: Renee Quirk, Cherry Esslinger, Jody Moore and Karen Dunsmore; 13 stepgrandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; caregivers, Stacey and Francis Knox and Paul Laurenzi; three nephews; many friends; social workers Diana and Liz from VITAS; and his special animal friends: two puppies, Young Blood and Lilly.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 16, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will be private at Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle.
