Eugene Young of Wilmington has entered Delaware’s congressional race, becoming the third Democrat to announce a bid for the seat.
Young, 40, is director of the Delaware State Housing Authority and former president and CEO of the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League.
As director of DSHA, he states on his website that the group has increased its affordable housing budget from $10 million to $122 million, worked for tenants’ rights, and worked to improve neglected communities.
Young is seeking Delaware’s lone congressional seat, held by Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester, who is seeking Sen. Tom Carper’s seat.
Young will face state Sen. Sarah McBride, D-Wilmington, and state Treasurer Colleen Davis, who have each announced plans to run for the seat.
