Five Points is now Three Stooges Intersection

June 7, 2024

As I sat about six cars from the traffic light waiting to cross over Coastal Highway to go west on Route 23, three red lights came and went until I could cross the highway. The third red light only allowed two cars to get through the intersection. The west side of the intersection was at a standstill. Once I made it to the other side, I waited about 10 minutes for the red light to change so my vehicle and a slew of others could turn left to proceed through the marvelous roundabout. As I was sitting in traffic, I thought this whole mess looks like something Moe, Larry, and Curly constructed. This intersection was formerly known as Malfunction Junction. I think an appropriate name for it now is the Three Stooges Intersection. Roundabouts may help, but you can't construct one that close to a major highway with two traffic signals.
