Gifted Alchemy offers free sound meditations live each night

April 2, 2020

To help anyone experiencing difficulty relaxing or getting adequate rest, Julie Fisher of Gifted Alchemy is offering live sound meditations beginning at 8 p.m. daily, for the duration of the quarantine, on Gifted Alchemy’s Facebook page. Fisher is offering this as a public service.

Sound meditation is an easy and accessible modality that helps the mind transition from active thinking into rest. The transition happens via the phenomenon known as entrainment, which is a person’s synchronization with an external stimulus.

Meditative instruments such as singing bowls, gong and voice have been proven to shift the mind into relaxed and restful states.

Fisher has been holding her unique sound meditations locally through her small business Gifted Alchemy. “The most consistent feedback from years of holding sound meditations is that afterward, people experience great sleep,” said Fisher. “I’ve also been hearing that people are experiencing difficulty sleeping due to worry about the future, so I’ve decided to make my service widely available.”

Participants may use their own external speakers or headphones to enhance the audio quality. They are also encouraged to listen to the sound meditation in the comfort of their own bed. For Fisher, sound meditations are an intuitive process that lasts 20 to 50 minutes.

“My hope is that once the sound meditation is over, participants will simply turn off their device, settle back into a comfortable position and go to sleep,” she said.

Fisher, a Delaware native, has traveled throughout the U.S., including Hawaii, to study the healing arts. She discovered her true gift as a sound healer, and studied to learn the art of working with singing bowls.
