Hoey Stevenson has the experience to thrive in Dover

October 4, 2024

I’m writing in support of Kim Hoey Stevenson for Delaware Senate District 6. I have known Kim for several years since moving into our Lewes neighborhood. She was the first to stop by and welcome our family to the community and provided her personal contact information in case we needed anything. That initial personal touch made a positive impression on me, and I could tell she’s all about the community. I’ve since gotten to know Kim better and can attest to her honesty and her character.

Like many native Delawareans I’ve come to meet over the years, Kim is a hard worker and dedicated to the people in the community and what’s important to them. She does research before taking an educated and fact-based position on issues and does what’s right, not what’s politically correct. I respect that.

Living in Sussex County, we have seen an explosion of new housing developments approved by the planning & zoning commission. I think it’s reasonable to expect that someone with experience with the laws that govern and knowledge of what’s been happening in Sussex County should represent us at the state Senate level, and that person is Kim. Kim has years of experience in that area and knows the issues and the players. I believe she can bring everyone to the table to find some reasonable solutions to the growth issues. And, at the same time, she would best preserve the quality of life we enjoy in this beautiful area.

My brother owned property in Milton for 45-plus years. He was drawn to the farms, open spaces and clean beaches, which drew our family to this amazing area. I believe these qualities are what draw so many others to this area, and we should preserve these spaces in the best way possible. Kim is passionate about protecting our natural resources and will be best suited to represent our district at the Senate level.

We have a large percentage of small businesses in Delaware, and they play a vital role in the state’s economy. About 98% of Delaware businesses are classified as small businesses, and 230,000 Delawareans are employed by a small business. As a small business owner, I believe Kim will champion legislation that addresses the issues facing small businesses, including minimizing the government red tape so business owners can focus on managing and growing their businesses.

I hope everyone will join me in supporting Kim Hoey Stevenson for Delaware Senate District 6.
