Holiday house tour in Milton slated Dec. 14

December 5, 2019

The Women’s Club of Milton welcomes guests to its Annual Holiday House Tour from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14, rain, shine or snow.

The tour presents homes reflecting the living history of Milton from 1790 to 2019. There are nine homes and three public venues all creatively decked out to celebrate the holiday spirit.

Featured this year is a New England Colonial style home, said to be part of the historic Civil War Underground Railroad, which may even be haunted. Other homes of note, built between the 1790 and 2019 period, include a federal style home, a Victorian farmhouse, a Queen Anne architectural style home, and a traditional early 20th century craftsman style home with a modern spin that features hardwood floors salvaged from an 1840s Domino Sugar factory.

Tour guests will not only enjoy the unique holiday decorations and beautiful, fresh greenery that each home displays, but can also expect to see art collections, including folk art, maritime and nautical themed items, hand-crafted items and works by Mid-Atlantic artists.

Various venues house collections of antiques, original hand-planed woodwork and nods to Milton’s historic shipbuilding, button-making and Holly Capital of the World past.

The tour shares the day with Milton’s Annual Holly Festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Tickets are on sale now in Milton at the Mercantile, Salon Milton and Suburban Farmhouse, the Milton Historical Society museum and at Lewes Gourmet in Lewes. Pre-tour tickets are $25 and same-day tickets can be purchased for $30 at the Mercantile, or the Women’s Club of Milton homemade bakery sale booth in the Milton Historical Society museum.

To reserve a ticket or for more information, call 302-329-9738. Tickets/tour books will be held for pick up at the Milton Historical Society until 2 p.m. the day of the event.
