It's all about football, both kinds

American football

This week the Philadelphia Eagles fell behind the Dallas Cowboys in their division. On Sunday night, the Eagles lost a disappointing game to the Atlanta Falcons by a score of 24-20. In the first half, both teams' offenses were quite poor. It looked like a pre-season game.

It didn’t help the Eagles’ cause that wide receivers DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery both got hurt early in the game. DeSean is out for at least two weeks. Alshon's status is unclear to me. I hope no one else gets hurt on offense or we will be in trouble right from the start.

The Eagles will play the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers in their next two outings. They need to win these games to keep up with the Cowboys, who are 2 and 0 and actually look pretty good.

English football

In the early season English Premier League soccer standings, Liverpool is in first place by five points over Manchester City, the two-time defending champions. Liverpool has started the season with great momentum from last year and their offense is still very good.

Last week, Manchester City lost a very surprising game to Norwich City football club, who were just promoted up to the premier league this year. This just shows you that anything can happen in one game.

This Sunday, Chelsea plays Liverpool. Chelsea is very young this year. It would be another upset if Chelsea beats them. I will be cheering for Liverpool to win the league championship, but we will see what happens in this individual game.

See you on the sidelines!
