Joseph F. Furey, Navy veteran
Joseph Francis Furey, 86, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 29, 2012. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., Nov. 7, 1926, he was the son of the late Charles and Jennie Furey
Joe was a Navy veteran who served in World War ll and the Korean Conflict. After decades of sales management, Joe retired from FMC-Link-Belt. Involved in numerous volunteer organizations, New Life Thrift Store, St. Edmond’s Church, Knights of Columbus and Delaware money management services.
Joseph was the beloved husband of the late Theresa McNulty Furey; wonderful father of Patrice Delargey and husband Rick, Kevin Furey and wife Christele, Margaret Mary Ferguson and husband Jeff, Thomas Furey and his late wife Jeannie , Kathleen Sheehan and husband Gerald, and Anthony Furey and wife Katherine; fantastic grandfather of Bryan, Loryn, Daniel, Brigid, Brian, Brynn, Shawn, Collin, Zach, Chelsey, Brannock, Erin, Hanna, Raphael, Conor, Guillaume, Elodie, Gabriel “Elizabeth” and the late Julia; awesome great grandfather to Masen, Nola, Johnny, and Grant; brother to Charles and his late brothers Edward, Bernard and John.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday April, 2, at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach, where friends may visit beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow the mass at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Millsboro.
A viewing for family and friends will also be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday, April 1, at Mr. Fureys late residence, 136 Columbia Ave, Rehoboth Beach.
