Lewes Mayor Ted Becker recovering from open heart surgery

Lewes City Manager Ann Marie Townshend has released the following statement on the health status of Mayor Ted Becker. 

“Many from the Lewes community have inquired about the health of Mayor Ted Becker, who underwent open heart surgery for replacement of an aortic valve Dec. 16, at Medstar Washington Hospital Center. He has been convalescing since that time in Washington, D.C. Mayor Becker will be returning to Lewes the week of Jan. 17, where he will continue his cardiac rehab program. He expects to be fully recovered from his operation, following the recommended three to four additional weeks of rehabilitation therapy. In the meantime, he continues to engage in his duties with Lewes City Council, Deputy Mayor Andrew Williams, and Lewes City Manager Ann Marie Townshend, as his schedule allows. Mayor Becker is deeply appreciative of the calls and cards which he has received and wishes to thank everyone for their expressions of interest and support. He looks forward to fully resuming his duties as mayor in the near future.”
