Lunch With a Purpose names season nonprofit beneficiaries

Lunch With a Purpose board members and representatives from the nine nonprofits selected as beneficiaries for the upcoming season attended a June 4 luncheon at Baywood Clubhouse Restaurant near Millsboro.

Cheryl Mitchell of Lunch With a Purpose welcomed and introduced attendees, and Helen Phillips presented an overview of the group’s process.

Lunch With a Purpose will work with the selected charities on fundraising luncheons each first Monday of the month, September through May.

Dates and participating charities this year are: Sept. 3, Higher Ground Outreach; Oct. 1, Read Aloud Delaware; Nov. 5, Ocean Waves Quilt Guild; Dec. 3, Food Bank of Delaware; Jan. 7, Champions for Children’s Mental Heath; Feb. 4, Historic Lewes Farmers Market; March 4, Nurses & Neighbors Collaborative; April 1, Laurel Public Library; and May 6, Harry K Foundation.

Program contributions for the 2024-25 season totaled $88,850 in cash and in-kind donations, and 10,950 pounds of food were donated to area pantries. For more information, find Lunch With a Purpose/Coastal Delaware on Facebook.
