Marcia Thomas Eisinger, active in community
Marcia Thomas Eisinger, 82, of Potomac, Md., and Rehoboth Beach, passed away peacefully Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Marcia was born Oct. 5, 1940, in Washington, D.C., and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and George Washington University. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta women’s fraternity, Gamma Kappa Chapter at G.W. University.
She was a sports enthusiast and season ticket holder for many years of her beloved Washington Redskins football team. She was very active in the community chairing charitable events for organizations such as St. Francis Episcopal Church, National Foundation for Cancer Research, Florence Crittenton Home, Bullis School, and Rehoboth Beach Historical Society. Her love of the beach began at an early age, and her two favorite places were Deauville Beach in Rehoboth Beach and Siesta Key Beach in Sarasota, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Louise Carol (Meads) and Frederic Andrew Middleton; her father, Lewis Walter Thomas Jr.; and her younger brother, Lewis Walter Thomas III.
Marcia is survived by her two daughters, Connie Eisinger (Steve) Ertel and Amy Eisinger (John) Gardiner; five grandchildren, Christine Ertel (Michael) Prior, James Thomas Ertel, Lily Kathryn Gardiner, John Patrick Gardiner Jr. and Thomas Clayton Gardiner; and two great-grandchildren, Samantha Lynne Prior and Caroline James Prior.
A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 18, at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 10033 River Road, Potomac, Md. A reception will follow. Burial will be private.
