McDonald’s concerns are misguided

February 24, 2023

The Feb. 17 edition of the Cape Gazette featured an article on the Milton Planning and Zoning Commission, and the review of the McDonald’s application.

The article indicates that the main issues for the commission and citizens are the effect of traffic at the proposed site and the “aesthetics of allowing a corporate Goliath like McDonald’s into Milton.”

So, take a look at the shopping center site and what do we find? Food Lion, Walgreens, Dollar Store, Subway and Domino’s. All of these businesses are major corporations, if not Goliaths.

Then there are the umpteen thousands of square feet of storage space proposed along Route 16, brought to us courtesy of the very same P&Z commission. This is aesthetic? At the gateway to historic Milton, which has gone to great lengths to preserve its integrity?

Just in case it matters, we would much prefer a Hardee’s!
