Milton club to present 18th Annual Garden Tour Sept. 23

September 20, 2018

The Milton Garden Club will present its 18th Annual Garden Tour and its 2nd Annual Fall Garden Tour featuring seven very diverse private gardens from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 23.  There is no rain date, but if a hurricane or major storm hits, the tour will be rescheduled for Saturday, Sept. 29.

This is a walking tour with all the gardens located on historic Union Street. "The majority of the gardens are hidden from view, and tour goers are always surprised to see what is behind the houses and fences," said Kathryn Greig, event chair. "People are astonished to see the depths of the gardens."

The tour includes shade, sun and pollinator gardens; special features include a bamboo Japanese Tea House, numerous senior trees, containers, water features such as an in-ground pool, a timber screen house with a Scandinavian fireplace, window boxes, garden art, vintage garden furniture, and much more.

Special events in the gardens include artists painting, a plant sale, lavender products, bag lunch, painted garden stones, decorative gourds, doTerra essential oils, and music by Milton local Dave Downing on steel drums. The Master Gardeners will have a booth, as will the Milton Food Pantry.

Advance tickets are $10 and can be purchased in Milton at Salon Milton, Peppers Greenhouse, Hillside Flowers, and the Milton Historical Society, and in Lewes at Lewes Printing. Day-of-tour tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the Milton Garden Club booth outside the Milton Historical Society at 210 Union St.

The Milton Garden Club is a nonprofit whose main goal is to make Milton bloom with flowers. The club also gives a scholarship to local students each year.
