Milton Fire Department has set up donation boxes at its public parking lots as a way for the community to give back if they so choose.
The department owns two tracts of land that are used for public parking at the corner of Front and Chestnut streets, a gravel lot and a grass lot. A third lot across from the department’s headquarters on Front Street is set up for firefighters only.
Department officials said the donation boxes provide an option for visitors to support the department for providing downtown parking. The department has floated the idea of possibly having an attendant on hand for larger events downtown.
