New merchants join market room at Brush Factory on Kings

November 6, 2020

The Brush Factory on Kings welcomes three new merchants to its thriving market room at 830 Kings Highway, Lewes.

Artisan merchants Big Joe’s Honey, Sopra della bala, and Soberdough Breads join local favorites Ray’s Produce and Swell Joe Coffee.

Big Joe’s Honey is a small family-owned apiary located in Wyoming, Delaware. Its mission is to live in the presence of nature, and to inspire local and global communities into a shared respect for the same. The Big Joe’s team hand-raises its bees, practicing natural healthy hive management, which in turn helps protect the environment’s sustainability.

Big Joe’s Honey is cold-extracted from the hive into the jar and minimally filtered. The flavor, color, and consistency of the honey is dependent on the changes in foliage of the seasons in which the bees collect. Honey characteristics can range from light and fruity to dark and rich. Offerings at the Brush Factory include wildflower honey, infused honeys, creamed honeys, honeycomb, bee pollen, paw wax and beeswax.

Sopra della bala is renowned for its locally made pasta sauces, pasta and bread. Having operated for nearly 30 years out of nearby Ocean View, its traditional top-of-the-stove cooking methods produce a consistent and truly homemade quality. Sopra della bala uses the finest and freshest local ingredients, with no added salt, sugars, flavorings and preservatives. Sauce varieties include traditional marinara, spicy basil and sweet onion, roasted garlic and roasted red pepper.

Soberdough is a brew bread that comes in multiple varieties made with the freshest ingredients. The buyer simply adds their own favorite beer or nonalcoholic liquid, stirs and bakes, making simply fresh, hot and delicious bread. Offerings include rosemary, cinnamon swirl, raisin, roasted garlic and herb, and olive focaccia.

The Brush Factory is open six days a week and closed on Wednesdays for cleaning, sanitizing and restocking. Parking is free. The popular retail destination is the area’s largest, totaling more than 60 local merchants and artist vendors at its 830 Kings Highway location.
