New Open Print Studio opens in Lewes

Rehoboth Art League partners with the Coastal Camera Club
May 6, 2015

The Rehoboth Art League, in partnership with the Coastal Camera Club, is offering a new open studio for members of both organizations. The Open Print Studio will provide photographers, graphic designers and digital artists a place to print large-scale works on high-quality printing equipment.

“The art league’s mission is to encourage artists and arts education. We have found that open studios, where artists work together, provide a rich learning environment,” says Executive Director Sheila Bravo. “Many artists would not be able to afford this type of equipment on their own.”

The RAL and the Coastal Camera Club joined together to open the studio, with the RAL providing the space and equipment at its new satellite location on Route 9. Members of the camera club who have been trained to use the equipment will serve as studio monitors.

“Instead of having to maintain expensive equipment at home or send photos out to be printed, members of the RAL and Coastal Camera Club can come to the Open Print Studio to print their fine art images,” says camera club member and studio monitor Leslie Sinclair. “Using calibrated equipment, they will be able to see how their image will look prior to printing.” With this new program, photographers and artists will benefit as they will not wait for their prints nor pay shipping charges.

The Photo Print Studio will be open to RAL and camera club members Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning May 12. From May 12 to Sept. 30, the Open Print Studio will be open Tuesdays from 4 to 8 p.m., and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. In the summer, hours will extend to Saturday. The studio is only available to members of both organizations. To become a member of the Rehoboth Art League and Coastal Camera Club go to rehobothartleague.org and coastalcameraclub.com. Both organizations showcase the studio and offer detailed information regarding hours and how the studio operates. RAL Art Studios is at 12000 Old Vine Blvd., Lewes.
