New theatre to present noted magician David Morey Sept. 24-26

September 24, 2010

Now you see it, now you don’t: sleight of hand is all in a day’s work for Washington, D.C. magician David Morey. Morey is bringing his one-of-a-kind show to the newly opened Dickens Parlour Theatre in Millville this weekend. Card tricks? Check. Mind reading?

No problem. The 55-seat Dickens Parlour Theatre offers every audience member an up-close look at some of the best magic in the country.

In addition to sold-out performances at the DC Fringe Festival, Morey has performed in many different venues, including the official inaugural ball for President Barack Obama, the Toronto Film Festival, the McBride Magic Show in Las Vegas, George Washington University, and for a variety of corporations, including Microsoft, Pepsi, GE, Verizon and the Four Seasons.

“The higher forms of magic elevate you, take you to a higher plane, and, at least temporarily, heal what you are going through and what is challenging you,” says Morey. “I believe imagination can make magicians of us all. I think that we all have magical abilities. Imagination is what makes it happen, and that’s true in the political world and that’s true of magic.” Morey will perform at the Dickens Parlour Theatre at 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Sept. 24 and 25; and at 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 26. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for children. For reservations call 829-1071.
