Sussex P&Z Commission to meet

Sussex County Planning & Zoning Commission will meet at 3 p.m., Thursday, March 23, in the county administration building, 2 The Circle, Georgetown. Included on the agenda is a cluster subdivision application for Walden III with 21 single-family home lots on a 24-acre parcel on the northeast side of the Sloan Road-Route 24 intersection near Long Neck. Art group to elect officers March 22

The Lewes Public Art Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 22, at city hall.

After discussion, committee members may vote to elect a vice chair, secretary and treasurer.

Updates regarding website changes, an April 13 bus trip, and the DeWitt Godfrey sculpture will be provided.

Art In Bloom is asking to place a small bronze statue in the Children’s Learning Garden at Stango Park; there will be a presentation followed by discussion and possible action.

A special meeting may be set to discuss bylaws, application process, committee mission, priorities and future artwork projects.

African-American Heritage group to meet March 23

The Lewes African-American Heritage Commission will meet at 6 p.m., Thursday, March 23, at city hall.

Discussions will include oral history website updates, Juneteenth 2023, a public arts commission project update, and a recap of the Johnnie Walker subcommittee with meeting dates.

Citizen, volunteer nominations sought in Town of Milton

The Town of Milton is taking nominations for its annual Citizen of the Year and Lifetime Volunteer awards. 

Nominees must be Milton residents who have demonstrated exceptional volunteer commitment. Nomination letters must include a supporting explanation on how the nominee has made significant contributions to the community over either the past year or a lifetime. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, March 22.

Cape school board meets March 23

The Cape Henlopen school board will meet at 6 p.m., Thursday, March 23, in the library at H.O. Brittingham Elementary. All are invited to join a special recognition observing the 50-year anniversary of Title IX and the 1973 Cape High girls’ basketball state champions, Cape’s first championship team.
