Palate owners to open Harbour in Lewes

Papps to offer sustainable seafood in canalfront space
March 11, 2020

Gary and Lorraine Papp, owners of Palate Bistro & Catering, have announced they will be opening a new restaurant called Harbour in the former Gilligan’s space next to the Inn at Canal Square in Lewes.

Opening in the 2020 season, the menu will feature sustainable seafood and locally sourced ingredients to complement the canalfront location.

“We are humbled by the opportunity and we are excited about the dockside dining,” said Gary. “We hope to bring a lot in returning to the restaurant scene in downtown Lewes.”

Lorraine and Gary have more than 30 years of restaurant experience. They moved to Lewes in 1994 and helped open The Buttery with John Donato and Twain Gonzales. Gary served as executive chef at the restaurant until 2008, while Lorraine was pastry chef and kitchen manager. In 2008, Gary and Lorraine formed Essential Chef, offering private chef and catering services.

Five years ago, the couple opened Palate in the Safeway shopping center.
