The Peninsula donates Reggae for a Cause proceeds
The Peninsula Golf & Country Club recently hosted three Reggae for a Cause fundraising events benefitting three local charities.
More than 400 Peninsula members, guests, and staff enjoyed these events featuring fabulous reggae music by the Zion Band and authentic Jamaican cuisine prepared by club staff, which includes eight international student workers from Jamaica.
The first event, held June 17, raised $1,600 for Operation Second Chance Delmar, a nonprofit national organization dedicated to serving wounded veterans and their families as they recover and transition back to active duty or civilian life.
The second event, held July 15, raised $1,500 for Oak Orchard-Riverdale Boys & Girls Club, which serves families in the Millsboro area. Its offerings include before- and after-school programs; the Growing Tree Preschool; and summer fun clubs. A local nonprofit, Great Futures Fund, is working to raise funds to help this club expand its current building to serve more area youth in need. The club currently has a waiting list, and the need for a building expansion is great.
The third event, held Aug. 19, raised more than $2,500 for Beebe Medical Foundation, which helps fulfill Beebe Healthcare’s nonprofit charitable mission.
All three events provided wonderful opportunities for the club’s members, staff and guests to promote a sense of community spirit and shared experiences.
