The Peninsula Gallery recently introduced Daniel Garrow as its featured artist for August.
Featured Artist of the Month is a new initiative on the part of Peninsula Gallery to highlight the works created by different artists. The lineup includes some of the gallery’s resident artists, repeat exhibitors, and artists entirely new to the space.
To see featured artists’ special collections, visit the gallery each month, and follow its Facebook and Instagram pages to find behind-the-scenes information about each one’s background and creative process.
Garrow is an artist, illustrator and designer who has worked in commercial illustration for over 40 years. His whimsical designs reimagine classical art and popular cultural images as digital paintings of cartoon fish. Before starting his fish collection, Garrow worked with various clients, such as the Washington Post, the New York Times, USA Today, Hewlett-Packard, Boating Magazine and BusinessWeek.
He has been honored five times as the nation’s top graphic artist at the National Headliner Awards, as well as being recognized 12 times by Gannett while working as art director at the Wilmington News Journal. His work is on display throughout Delaware, from Delaware Seashore State Park to the Wilmington and Western Railroad. His illustrations have been shown at the Society of Illustrators in New York, Society for News Design, and the Maryland-Delaware-D.C. Press Association’s annual show.
Garrow has illustrated three books: “AlphaSillyMals,” “AlphaSearch” and “Fine Art with Fish.”
