Perdue Foundation supports technology updates at Milford Boys & Girls Club

Representatives from Perdue Farms recently presented the Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club with a $20,000 donation from the Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation in support of the Great Futures Capital Campaign. The award specifically supports improvements and expansion of the club’s Education & Technology Center. The foundation is the charitable giving arm of Perdue Farms.
“The desire of the Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club to enhance their technological capabilities is timely and much needed. The Arthur W. Perdue Foundation is happy to be able to help them bring their technology up to date so that the children they work with are learning from today’s equipment and software,” said Dean Walston, director of Perdue operations in Milford.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware provides quality Science, Technology, Engineering and Math programming to club members. “S.T.E.M. learning opportunities enhance our members’ knowledge and skills in these key areas,” said George Krupanski, president/CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware. “With the funding provided by the Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation, we are able to increase our kids’ educational, career and professional opportunities in these fields.”
The Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club serves more than 400 youth in an impressive six-year-old, 39,000-square-foot facility. It includes game rooms, fine arts and crafts room, swimming pool, gymnasium, child-care rooms and the learning and tech center. “Not all families, or even schools for that matter, have the ability to offer kids access to basic computer literacy skills necessary in today’s technologically advanced world. This grant affords our club to provide that to our kids,” said Greater Milford Executive Director Tod Van Eyken.
