Possum Point Players' "And Then There Were None" to continue

June 8, 2013

The Possum Point Players are not only building a set and readying actors and stage for Agatha Christie’s famous murder mystery, "And Then There Were None," but they are readying volunteers to prepare and serve a four-course dinner, as the Possums do every year.

Titia Halfen directs this murder mystery, with Esther Friend of Lewes assisting her. Possum newcomer Ethel Levine of Smyrna portrays the cook Ethel Rogers on stage, but Possum veteran Louise Hartzell of Georgetown is the head cook for the Possums Dinner Theater, which happens in the Possum Hall green room and lobby areas. Long-time Possum patrons know the dinner theater is a tasty highlight of the year.

In the on-stage mystery, 10 people are lured into coming to a mansion on the fictional Soldier Island, off the coast of Devon, England. Someone believes that each of these people had knowledge or took part in the deaths of other human beings, but either escaped notice or were not subject to legal sanction. Each guest is killed in a manner seeming to parallel the deaths detailed in the “Ten Little Soldiers” nursery rhyme, which concludes “and then there were none.”

The cast includes Doug Friend, John Marino, and Thomas Scott Roberts of Lewes, Sharon George and Dennis McGeady of Bridgeville, Matt King and Logan Lynch of Georgetown, Kim Klabe of Rehoboth Beach and John and Maureen Levine of Smyrna.

"And Then There Were None" began June 14. The shows will continue Friday and Saturday, 21-22, with dinner at 6 p.m. and show at 7:30 p.m. It also is being performed Sunday, June 23, with dinner at 12:30 p.m. and show at 2 p.m. Tickets are $45 for dinner and show or $20 for show only. There is also a Three-Show Combo Ticket available for $82, $79 seniors/students, which includes dinner and the remaining three shows of the Possum season.

Tickets are on sale online at www.possumpointplayers.org and by calling the PPP ticketline at 302-856-4560. "And Then There Were None" is produced by special arrangement with Samuel French Inc.
