Preston E. ‘Prep’ Brasure, SCI retiree, craftsman

Preston E. Brasure ”Prep” of Bridgeville born March 11,1949, in Clarksville succumbed after a long six-year battle with cancer. He was the son of Edith and Elwood Brasure, who preceded him in death.  Brother Harvey James also preceded him.  

To the end, he did things his own way with the loving support of his family. Preston, a craftsman, built homes with his father. He retired from Sussex Correctional Institution after 21 years. He enjoyed hunting, surf fishing, crabbing, clamming, boating, muzzleloaders, fox hunting and CB radios.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Brenda V. Brasure; son, Keith (Kara) Brasure of Dagasboro daughters, Kelly Jansen (Tom Weaver) of Bridgeville and Cindy ( Patrick) Brown of Milton; grandchildren, Zeke Wing and wife Krista, Kelsey Jansen, Amanda Brasure, Parker and Mackinzie Brown; Brode Weaver and Matt Cook; three great-grandchildren, Holden Jansen, Eli and Klaira Wing; and his white lab Dixie.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Nanticoke Cancer Center or Delaware Hospice.

Services will be private, but a public memorial service will be held at a later date.
