Rathfon named Dec. 7 Georgetown parade marshal

The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce announced Louise Rathfon has been selected as the 2023 Christmas Parade grand marshal.

Caroling on the Circle, Sussex County’s food drive event, will begin at 6 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 7, followed by the tree lighting and Christmas In Toyland Parade at 7 p.m.

Rathfon has been involved in Boy Scouts of America for 45 years. She has served in many positions within the Sussex District. Rathfon was a den leader when both of her sons were in the pack and again recently as her four grandsons are also Cub Scouts. Rathfon camps with Troop 95 every month from September to May, as well as a week every August at Camp Horseshoe. She has been a member for 32 years of Nentego Lodge 20 Order of the Arrow.

Rathfon was employed for 23 years at the former First Omni Bank, with the title of assistant vice president. In June 2021 she retired from Delaware Technical Community College after 11 years. She keeps busy with Scouts, as well as family activities that always include her five grandchildren.
