Rehoboth Beach is getting ready for the holidays

City’s tree has been installed; Santa’s House is back at the Boardwalk

Rehoboth Beach Bandstand
Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971
United States

In advance of Rehoboth Beach’s annual tree lighting and holiday sing-along, the city has installed the tree that will be the center of attention.

The tree was donated by Rick and Tammy Smith, who live outside Rehoboth. Georgetown-based John L. Briggs & Company, Lewes’ George W. Plummer & Son and Delmarva Power facilitated the move from the Smith home to the Bandstand.

The annual Tree Lighting & Holiday Sing-Along event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 26, at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand. This event is free and open to the public.

Santa’s House back on Boardwalk

Santa’s House is back on the Rehoboth Avenue end of the Boardwalk.

The house was not placed on the Boardwalk last year, as a result of the city adopting a new policy prohibiting private holiday displays on public property during the holiday season, defined as Nov. 15 through Jan. 15 in any given year. City officials remedied the problem in September by purchasing the structure from the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce for $1. The city now owns the building, but the chamber is managing the operation.

Santa is expected to be at the house from 4 to 6:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 26; 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 27, Saturday, Dec. 4, Sunday, Dec. 5, and Saturday, Dec. 18; and noon to 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 19. Dogs may visit the house from 2 to 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 19.
