Revival House calling all horror film enthusiasts

Locals challenged to create movie trailer
September 29, 2017

Grab your ghosts, goblins and gore to participate in Revival House Theater's Horror Trailer Challenge.

The creative minds behind Revival House, a monthly movie series that pairs movies, music, art, food and brews at Milton Theatre, want to showcase local talent on the big screen. Budding filmmakers are challenged to create a three-minute horror trailer and vie for a $1,000 or $500 in cash prizes through the new Halloween-centric contest. There is no entrance fee.

On Thursday, Oct. 5, Revival House organizers will announce vital details that must be included in the submissions. At 5 p.m., Revival House will post on its Facebook page a specific prop and line of dialogue that must be included in the trailer.

“You have a total of three minutes to scare the living [expletive] out of us,” Revival House's Rob Rector says in the Horror Trailer Challenge instructional video on the group's website.

Once the required prop and dialogue are announced online Oct. 5, movie-makers will have one week to submit the trailer through Vimeo.

Finalists will be screened at the Milton Theatre on Thursday, Oct. 19, before the 6 p.m. feature presentation of the cult classic “Trick 'r Treat.”
