Rock the Boat raises funds for Overfalls Foundation

October 14, 2022

The Overfalls Foundation’s annual fundraising gala, Rock the Boat, was held Oct. 9 at Baywood Greens.

The evening began with a cocktail hour. Spicy entertainment was provided by the Hot Sauce Band throughout the evening. A buffet was enjoyed by all followed by a slice of Overfalls cake for dessert.

A live auction was held by local auctioneer Richard Bryan. Some items included dinner for a group at the new Lewes Oyster House and a night for two at the Hard Rock in Atlantic City, N.J., that includes dinner, accommodations and a show.

“This was our first gala event in over three years, and we were excited to hold it,” said Overfalls Foundation President Mike Safina. “We had a great turnout with over 120 tickets sold, and we exceeded our fundraising goals for the evening for the Overfalls Foundation. Guests had a great time at The Clubhouse at Baywood dancing to the music of Hot Sauce Band. It was great to get the support we did from our local businesses like Community Bank and LeeAnn Wilkinson Group as well as from our local politicians Steve Smyk and Mark Schaeffer. We couldn’t have had a better evening.”

The Overfalls Foundation is an all-volunteer organization. Funds raised support preservation and maintenance of the important landmark Lightship Overfalls in Lewes, as well as local scholarships, educational programs for children and adults, and preservation of maritime history through the ship and its artifacts.
