Savannah Road expected to reopen Jan. 17
Savannah Road at the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal drawbridge is expected to reopen Jan. 17 after being closed since Jan. 8 to add paver crosswalks.
The project was initially supposed to close the intersection of Savannah Road, Gills Neck Road and Front Street for three weeks, but crews took advantage of the nice weather and completed the project earlier than expected.
The bridge will be closed again soon, however, as the Delaware Department of Transportation announced Jan. 17 that it will close the bridge from Monday, Jan. 27 to Monday, Feb. 10 for bridge repairs.
Detour signage will be posted for motorists, and a shuttle will be available for pedestrians.
The pick-up/drop-off locations will be at the Fishermans’s Wharf parking area at the corner of Anglers Road and Savannah Road, and the 1812 Memorial Park parking lot.
Departure times from Anglers Road will be on the full and half hour. Departure times from 1812 Memorial Park will be 15 minutes and 45 minutes of each hour.
The shuttle will be a 15-passenger van and ADA compliant. A shuttle with four-passenger capacity with secured wheel chair shall be provided from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
