Schell Brothers joins Crooked Hammock to support Beers for Books
"Every quarter really adds up,” said Beckie Healey, president of the Lewes Public Library Board of Commissioners. Healey is referring to the Beers for Books fundraising campaign for the library, launched last December by Crooked Hammock Brewery in Lewes.
Schell Brothers lent a helping hand Jan. 15 by inviting all its employees to a company-sponsored after-work happy hour. The brewery’s innovative program will donate 25 cents to Lewes Public Library for every pint of Crooked Hammock Beer sold through April 1.
“It’s such a good community cause, we’re happy to contribute in whatever way we can,” said company spokesperson Stephanie Kichline.
Dozens of employees stopped by the popular new Crooked Hammock for brews and bites, courtesy of Schell Brothers CEO Chris Schell. “We’re so grateful to Chris for partnering with us throughout January to support the library,” said Rich Garrahan, co-owner/general manager of the brewery, which opened in October 2015.
“We’ve also lined up additional local businesses to help us raise awareness and funding for this valuable organization. Our community depends on Lewes Public Library!” Garrahan added, "If you haven’t discovered Crooked Hammock yet, this is a great way to get to know us and show your community support. Every single pint we sell is another step toward helping the library reach its goal.”
“We’re so grateful for everyone who’s making Beers for Books such a success, added Healey. Crooked Hammock Brewery and Restaurant is at 36707 Crooked Hammock Way just off Kings Highway in Lewes. It's open every day at 11 a.m. year-round for lunch, happy hour, dinner and late-night bites until 1 a.m.
