SDARJ honors HOB and Milton elementary students for excellence

The Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice recently honored students from two Cape district schools for their leadership, effort and excellence. 

H.O. Brittingham Elementary School students Ariella Cannon and Jayden Harris, and Milton Elementary School students Olivia Ohimor and Kade Wilkerson were recognized in ceremonies at their schools, and each received a $20 gift card to Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach.

Ariella’s teachers said she consistently demonstrates leadership both in and out of the classroom. A fourth-grader, Ariella shows strong academic growth and gives her best effort in learning and embracing challenges, which has helped her develop confidence in her abilities. Also,  Ariella’s involvement in the school’s robotics club reflects her curiosity, teamwork and commitment to learning beyond the classroom.

Jayden, also a fourth-grader, was recognized as a thoughtful, critical thinker who enjoys taking on challenges. Jayden scored well on state testing, reflecting his strong understanding and effort, and he consistently does his best and works hard in the classroom. In addition to his academic success, his teachers said he has made meaningful social growth and demonstrates genuine enjoyment of learning.

Olivia’s teachers said she is an exceptional first-grader who leads by example in the classroom and supports her peers. An extremely hard worker, Olivia is proud of the work she completes, and she steps up to meet academic challenges.

Kade’s teachers said he is a leader and supportive friend in his second-grade classroom. He consistently upholds the Milton 5 Rules of safety, kindness, perseverance, responsibility and creativity.
