With more than 6,500 people attending, the Lewes Historical Society hosted its 10th annual Mid-Atlantic Sea Glass and Coastal Arts Festival at the Cape May-Lewes Ferry Terminal. The event featured nearly 70 sea glass artists who were joined by dozens of other maritime artists displaying waterfowl, driftwood and carving artwork.

Susanna Hinnawi, this year’s featured artist from Italy, creates mosaics using sea glass and ceramics.

Bernie Houston of Laurel, Md., does his driftwood sculptures based on the natural design of the wood.

Ed Symonds of Landscape Glass Works in West Virginia creates montages using recycled wood for his frames and items such as shells, glass pieces and driftwood.

Sherry Sonntag-Whorl of Classic Glass Studios in Abell, Md., and Palmdale, Fla., displays a collection of her stained-glass art.

Larry Ringgold, who grew up on the shores of Chesapeake Bay, spends many hours walking beaches on the bay and Potomac River to find driftwood. His designs are also for sale at Peninsula Gallery in Lewes.
