The Sussex Academy soccer squad held its final scrimmage of the preseason Sept. 6 against Dover. The teams battled to a 0-0 tie.
“I thought we battled well through the rain, with a significant size disadvantage,” said Sussex Academy head coach RJ Dina. “Dover is an excellent program, well coached and athletic. I thought we did well to deal with the physicality and play around it. We are a young but very technical team. Most of our roster is composed of freshmen and sophomores. We will need to find different ways to be successful compared to years past. We don’t have size or experience to carry the torch for us. I expect us to compete this year. The Henlopen Conference is always tough, but we have some young and hungry players eager to make their mark.”
The Seahawks will open the 2022 campaign Saturday, Sept. 10, at Cape Henlopen.
