Striders to stay busy with plenty of events this fall

August 27, 2021

The Seashore Striders will race away from the Delta variant and keep it away from Delmarva as the hope is that live racing can continue throughout the State of Delaware. We have raced all summer live with no issues and made safety changes to protect our participants. The summer season was not back to 100 percent, but races were live and back to about 50-60 percent of normal numbers. This fall, Seashore Striders will be busy with its road race scene as well as directing the Beacon, Mariner and Cape Henlopen High School home cross country meets. I will also direct a statewide cross country invite plus the Sussex County Cross Country Championships in late October, and the East Coast Youth Championships in November. The running scene is active in this area of Delmarva from youth runners to those in the 80+ age group, so sign up and join us on the starting line to support many great charities.

Cape cross country

The Cape cross country teams will host an intrasquad scrimmage at Cape Henlopen High School at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 1. Come out and get a peek at this year’s team as they race on campus over a 5K distance. The teams, coached by Matt Lindell, are coming off a year where the boys won the D1 state championship, and both the girls and boys won the Henlopen Conference Championships. It should be an exciting year with the teams traveling to the Lake Forest Cross Country Invite Saturday, Sept. 11, then to Sussex Tech Wednesday, Sept. 15, to kick things off.
