Passengers can enjoy stunning sunsets, savory food and sips of extraordinary wines aboard the Cape May–Lewes Ferry on the 2016 Sunset Wine Cruises in September and early October. The Lewes cruises will depart the terminal at 4:15 p.m. Fridays starting Sept. 9.
Heath Gehrke, director of ferry operations, says the Wine Lovers Sunset Cruise is a unique remedy for residents and visitors looking to take a break from the ordinary. "As fall sets in, what could be better than to sip a fine wine, savor some delicious food, listen to great music and enjoy a dramatic sunset?" Gehrke said. "Looking to impress your date? What a better way than a memorable and romantic date night aboard the ferry?"
Back by popular demand, these annual events provide a fun, different and delightful winetasting experience inside the Crow's Nest Lounge aboard the ferry vessel Delaware. There will be live entertainment, small gourmet food plates from the catering chef, and insights into the paired wines in an intimate, limited-seating venue.
The package cost of $65 includes round-trip foot passenger cruise, five-course dinner with wine pairings for each course and an opportunity to purchase featured wines by the glass. A cash bar will also be available. Check-in begins in the ferry terminal 30 minutes before cruise time. Participants must be 21 or older. Space is limited.
