VIA supports Rehoboth Beach Main Street Visitors Information Kiosk

August 3, 2011

The Village Improvement Association and Rehoboth Beach Main Street are working together to keep the information kiosk on the Boardwalk open for visitors this summer. The VIA members have donated time this summer to assist Main Street with coverage for the information kiosk so that it will remain open every day through Labor Day.

For many years the VIA members have volunteered at the kiosk on Mondays, and this summer they have added Tuesdays. Recognizing the importance that the kiosk offers to Rehoboth Beach visitors, the VIA and its members stepped up to help RBMS keep the information windows open.

“There is a team of approximately 40 VIA members who are volunteering time on Mondays and now on Tuesdays and whenever necessary,” said Nancy Starr, VIA program chairwoman. “Members believe that a kind smile and advice from a local will keep vacationers and visitors returning to our city.”

Kiosk Supervisor Georgia Spade thanks the VIA members for their valuable help. “Without the VIA assistance, many vacationers would not experience the hotels, restaurants, and attractions that Rehoboth Beach offers,” she said.

The information kiosk is on the Boardwalk at Delaware Avenue next to Funland and is open from noon to 6 p.m., Monday and Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday to Sunday, through Labor Day. Information on Rehoboth’s 200 boutique shops, galleries, and spas, the 40 hotels and bed and breakfast locations, and 100 gourmet restaurants and food establishments is available at the kiosk.

The Village Improvement Association is a unique women’s civic and charitable organization located in Rehoboth Beach. Since its founding in 1909, members have been harnessing their collective powers to make enduring contributions to the town of Rehoboth Beach, as well as the surrounding Cape Henlopen District communities. The VIA is a member of the Delaware State Federation of Women’s Clubs and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs.

Rehoboth Beach Main Street is a nonprofit organization devoted to keeping downtown Rehoboth Beach economically vibrant and pleasing in appearance. Events are planned to bring shoppers, diners and visitors downtown. Economic programs are created to support independent businesses, encourage a preservation ethic and a sense of history, and promote renovation and restoration programs to enhance downtown building, signage and streetscapes.
