Not only are the lads rocking a goose egg in the loss column, but their only lost point came against the former king of the Henlopen boys’ tennis’ hill – Caesar Rodney. For Sussex Academy, it all starts with the top singles players. Freshman Jack Feinstein is the official first-singles player, but junior J.P. Eichten is the reigning Henlopen Conference first-singles champion. It has led to a breakout year for Feinstein, as he remains unbeaten, and a chance for the also-undefeated Eichten to claim another Henlopen title.
The freshman picked up his point against Smyrna with duplicate 6-0 sets. Eichten kept his record clear with a 6-3, 6-2 win for another point for the Seahawks. Feinstein’s younger brother, Max, made it a sweep in singles with a 6-2, 6-3 third-singles match.
On the doubles side, senior captain Keiran Probert and sophomore Leo Benz earned a point by winning 6-3, 6-2. Freshman Charlie Bowman and eighth-grader Arjun Verma cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 win.
Sussex Academy (10-0) will wrap up its season with Senior Day against Seaford (1-8) at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 5.
